Peppermint (or mentha piperita, as it’s known) sits somewhere between watermint and spearmint on the ‘minty scale’. It’s been used as a herbal infusion in Europe and Asia for thousands of years. Partly that’s down to the refreshing menthol aroma, but peppermint leaves are also thought to be very beneficial. They can ease digestion, relieve tension headaches and migraines, bust through clogged sinuses, and even boost your energy. Some people like to sweeten their peppermint tea with honey, but it’s delicious as a stand-alone tisane, tickling the palate and nourishing the soul. Serve steaming hot with a good book and a sunny window.
