It’s probably quicker to list the health benefits not associated with Gotu Kola. It’s one of the most prized herbs in all Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine, helping to fight infection, improve concentration, boost memory and brain function, reduce anxiety and keep away colds. Ancient herbalists used Gotu Kola for everything from treating open wounds to repairing nerve damage. The taste is grassy, mild and a little bitter, like some green teas. Brewed on its own, Gotu Kola makes a refreshing herbal tisane, but it also matches well with spicy flavours like ginger, gingko and rosemary. It’s a little cup of concentration.
